Happy Children

Our History

Hillcrest Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA®) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1982 to help support students, parents, staff, and the community at Hillcrest Elementary in Lake Stevens, Washington. We are one of the largest networks of individuals who believe we can make every child’s potential a reality.

National PTA®, was founded in 1897, and has worked toward bettering the lives of every child in education, health and safety. Through advocacy, as well as family and community education, National PTA has established programs and called for legislation that improves our children’s lives, such as:

  • Creation of Kindergarten classes

  • Child labor laws

  • Public health service

  • Hot and healthy lunch programs

  • Juvenile justice system

  • Mandatory immunization

  • Arts in Education

  • School Safety

Who We Are

YOU are the Hillcrest Hawks PTA.

PTA is a network of parents, teachers and community members devoted to the educational success of children and the promotion of family engagement in schools. We are a 501(c) non-profit organization governed by an Executive Board of volunteers who are elected to represent the Membership each school year. We abide by the Washington State PTA (WSPTA) Uniform Bylaws, which we supplement with our own Standing Rules.

What we do

  • Our goal is to supplement and support fundraisers that bridge the gap between government funding and the needs that exceed that funding.

  • We strive to enrich the learning experience of every Hillcrest Elementary student.

  • We endeavor to build a stronger community by providing an opportunity for families, teachers and members of our community to work together to support our children.

  • We recruit volunteers from our community in order to accomplish these goals.

How We Make It All Happen

  • Community:  We organize social activities for students and families like Silvertips Night & Mariners Night. We also host staff appreciation events, participate in class assemblies, and help promote and create new after-school clubs. We provide information about events and links to resources the entire school community can be a part of via our website and social media pages.

  • Programs & Personnel: We recruit classroom volunteers to provide teachers with more time to spend with students. This directly benefits every student. PTA Programs include: fieldtrips, classroom resources, teacher grants, and in school activities.

  • Fundraising:  Fundraising is done through various events: Our main fundraising event of the year is our Fun-Run, which includes all grades.  Anyone and everyone can participate in the fundraising with an easy to use online donation page – parents, grandparents, friends and family, near and far.

Who Can Join?

Did you know that membership is not limited to only parents and teachers? That's right, anyone can join - whether you're an aunt, uncle, grandparent, friend or neighbor, you can support the PTA. When you join Hillcrest Elementary PTA you receive a Washington State PTA membership card that allows you to take advantage of State and National PTA Benefits.

General Member Meetings

General Membership meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month, beginning in October.  Meeting time and place may vary, so we recommend subscribing to our mailing list so we can email you meeting notices. Kids are always welcome and web conference attendance is available.

Please come, join us, bring your ideas! All are welcome, even if you aren't a "member". This PTA is for EVERYONE who loves Hillcrest. To receive meeting notices, be sure to subcribe to our mailing list in the footer section of our website or visit us on Facebook.
